The deadline for submission of abstracts is April 15^th, 2012. Abstracts not received by this date will not be included in the abstract book and may not be considered for oral presentation. Do not submit abstract by facsimile.

Use 12 point Times New Roman type sets the number of characters per line. The borders of this abstract are about what we will use in the final book to be given out at the meeting.  There also may be tables, figures (graphic) and perhaps even a photograph or line drawing in some format.

The title could be up to 4 lines long but the lines will be shorter than the body due to the need to place the abstract number at the top left (the blank spot left of the title).

The maximum size for the abstract is one page.

Special short communications sessions will take place giving the opportunity to some authors selected to present a poster to valorize their work by presenting a short five minutes oral presentation of 2 to 3 slides. Authors selected for such sessions will be personally informed.

Oral
Oral communications will be 15 minutes in length including discussion and questions.

Poster
The posters will remain displayed during the entire meeting. A poster message board will be available to facilitate interaction with those presenting posters.
  
Poster board size will be 100 cm width and 250 cm height, however the maximum effective poster size will be recommended in 80 cm with and 150 cm height. The minimum font size should be 28.

Authors of communications must provide an electronic file of full text manuscript to ensure that the communication is included in the conference Proceedings.

Manuscripts 
Oral communications:
The manuscript should have no more than eight pages, summary, tables and illustrations included. The summary should be placed between the title and the beginning of the text of the communication.
Poster:
The manuscript should have no more than four pages, summary, tables and illustrations included. The summary should be placed between the title and the beginning of the text of the communication.

Preparation of the manuscripts
Similarly to the procedure adopted for the last two Conferences, the Proceedings of the 24^th International Conference will be published in the form of a CD-ROM and will be available on the ASIC 2012 web site (www.asic2012costarica.org). For this, all manuscripts must be delivered as PC-compatible WORD files. In order to facilitate editing, the following rules should be adhered to:

1. Use A4 page format (210 x 297 mm)
2. Leave 3 cm margins at the top, bottom, 2.5 cm on the right and left side of each page
3. Use Times New Roman Font.
4. Use size 16 points bold for paper title, size 12 points bold for authors' names (capital letters), size 14 points bold for section titles, and size 12 points regular for the text.

ASIC 2012 organizers have a limited budget to assist scientists who cannot ensure the cost of their participation. This assistance is reserved to scientists whose abstracts will be selected for oral presentations. Requests, including personal CV and proposed communication abstracts, should be submitted to ASIC Scientific Secretary before February 14^th, 2012.

Requests received after the deadline will not be taken into consideration. Decisions on support requests will be communicated individually to the concerned persons before June 15^th, 2012.

The proceeding should be published in the early 2013. No delay will be accepted for manuscripts. There will be no reprints. Manuscript of lectures or posters announced but not presented will not be published.
